Guilty Daughter
I feel horrible. I convinced my parents to buy this machine for use on their property. They live in PA, right on the edge of the Deleware, so they get the infamous New Jersey Mosquito (it's Jersey's state bird). These suckers (no pun intended) are voracious! Well, they have a beautiful piece of property with a pond and pool and gardens, so it really was a shame to have our barbecues ruined by the Bloodletting which occurred come dusk. Enter this machine. Thought it sounded like a GREAT idea! My poor Dad tried to be a good sport with the thing. He kept it running, moved it to at least 5 different locations. Customer service even recommended putting sweaty socks on the machine and Dad gamely complied. For three months he ran the stupid thing (and ran through the propane I might add). And the machine did seem to ATTRACT them. You'd see them literally swarming around the thing!!! After spending so much time with the company on the phone that he had them on speed dial, I finally had to say Dad it's okay, the thing is a failure- let's just put this old dog to sleep. I think he felt bad for ME! What a guy! It's a year later and now we're back to lazy evenings enjoying the lingering smells of the grill mixed with the warm scent of Mom's moonflowers and the pungent DEET on our bodies. Ah well. Oh, by the way, my recommendation if someone tries to sell you this albatross?? RUN, AWAY, FAST.
Truly As Useless as I Have Seen
After futiley operating for one summer, we contacted the factory. The unit would run and run but not trap many of the clouds of mosquitoes hovering around it. Unbelievably, we fell for the factory line that the unit needed an upgrade (for $80.00 more!). We sent it back, they sent out the "upgraded" unit. At first it worked just as poorly as the original, until ultimately it just wouldn't work at all...flashing lights, no fan, etc etc. What a piece of junk. Flowtron is simply preying on idiots like me who not only paid for a worthless product originally, but then paid again to try to have it fixed.
do not buy this- it is not working
i buy this mosquito powertrap and it works for 2 weeks. after the propane ran out, i replace a new one and it is not working anymore. i return the first one and get a new one. after 2 weeks and change the mode and it is not working anymore again. good job when it works but the design is total fail.
